Principal's Message

Dear O.H. Anderson Students and Families,

It has been a great first day of the 2021-22 school year. Our theme #besomebodytosomeone has come alive as we look at connections to the song and work and spreading kindness and respect at OHA. Here are some examples of what the Song Someone to You by the Banners means to us at OHA.   #besomebodytosomeone

I want to thank all of you that attended assessment days on Sept. 7 & 8.  This has helped us to build connections with students, learn about them as readers, and enable us to instruct students at their instructional reading levels and on areas for them to grow. If you did not complete the OHA Family survey to share a student's strengths, areas for growth, and needs, please complete it today.

On each Friday, we will share our Zephyr Pride.  Please wear Zephyr clothes, Navy, or Gold.

Take care of yourself, your family, and each other.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of the Mahtomedi School community is a top priority. The school district will work in partnership with families to ensure that students attending onsite school do not have signs of infectious illness. It is important to stress that keeping ill students home will not only prevent the spread of COVID-19 but will protect the rest of the school community from possible classroom or building closures for quarantine purposes.

Our 2021-22 district health and safety protocols are available on our school year plan web page, available at: www.mahtomedi.k12.mn.us/schoolyearplan. These protocols are subject to change based on information from the Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Department of Education, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in conjunction with local public health data (county and school-level). We will update our community if our health and safety protocols change.

Weekly BackPack Food Program

Once per week, a small bag of non-perishable breakfast, lunch, and snack items will be discreetly provided to the student to help meet nutritional needs throughout the week at home and/or in the classroom during snack times. This program is possible due to our partnership with the Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf and MAEF. Nothing needed to qualify! Open to any Mahtomedi K-12 student who signs up.

If interested, please fill out this Google Form
or contact District Social Worker Ali Middlebrook, MSW, LGSW. Email: ali.middlebrook@isd832.net or Office: 651-407-2304 Cell: 651-468-9634
Chromebooks

All third, fourth, and fifth-grade students at O.H. Anderson Elementary will be issued a Chromebook. The device will stay at school each day unless they need it at home to complete assignments or for learning purposes. If the Chromebook is brought home, please make sure you take good care of the device, keep it charged, and bring it back to school the next day so it is available for learning

The teachers will teach our students how to use their Chromebooks as learning tools, but all families should review the Chromebook Device Guide.

Here are some technology resources for all families.

The Mahtomedi ePay system is the online system where parents can pay for fees, donations, and costs associated with field trips, school supplies and materials, and fines. If additional learning experiences are added, we may ask for an additional voluntary donation during the school year to help cover the costs of the experience.  3rd grade-$25.00, 4th grade- $40.00, 5th grade-$14.60

District Information

Technology Levy

A primary source of technology funding at Mahtomedi Public Schools is a voter-approved Capital Projects Levy for Technology (commonly called a technology levy).

The technology levy funds staff and student devices, critical technology infrastructure, training and tech support, and essential teaching and learning tools. This levy has been in place since 2002 and is up for renewal by voters in our community on November 2, 2021.

A renewal of the capital projects levy for technology means maintaining (not increasing) our existing tax rate. A renewal would provide sustainable, ongoing funding for our current technology devices and technology support for our students and staff.

For more information, visit our website at www.mahtomedi.k12.mn.us/techlevy Vote early or on November 2, 2021. For more information about early voting in Washington County, please visit their website at www.co.washington.mn.us/670/Absentee-Voting
