Greetings Soaring Heights Families,

It has been a wonderful start to the new school year. We have enjoyed seeing all of the students in the building five days a week.

The changes to our traffic procedures, with your partnership, have continued to progress and improve. We appreciate our continued support with these procedures by making sure there is a sign in the passenger window with the following:

  • your student’s first and last name

  • teacher last name

  • grade level.

We have just wrapped up the i-Ready testing for the fall window. i-Ready is a tool that is used to collect information for the teacher about each student’s learning needs. Data is used to track student progress and allow teachers to more effectively teach the whole group, small groups and provide one to one instruction to meet student needs.

Middle School volleyball and cross country are in full swing. It has been wonderful to see parents in the building again to support the students and middle school sports.

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for October 5th, 6th and 7th, 2021. Additional information will be sent next week.

Please remind your students to label all of their belongings, especially water bottles and lunch boxes. Please remember our water fountains only fill up water bottles at this time.

Thank you for your continued support and teamwork. It is a wonderful opportunity to work with such a supportive community.

Have a relaxing weekend,
Cyrus Weinberger, Principal

The Behavior Code of Conduct
The Behavior Code of Conduct will be available Monday, August 30th in Infinite Campus. While you are completing the Behavior Code of Conduct in Infinite Campus, please take this opportunity to update student contact information. Also if your living situation has changed and you need assistance, you will be able to submit the McKinney-Vento or Migrant Worker form located in Infinite Campus.

Thank you for a terrific start to school year. We are enjoying getting to know your children and are excited to establish new friendships along with our daily routines. We appreciate all of your support.

As communicated over the weekend, Soaring Heights will be adjusting our pick-up and drop-off procedures to address traffic concerns. Below is a short video outlining this new process, two maps for visuals, and some important reminders. This new process will start on Wednesday, August 25.

Important Resources:

Please review the video and important reminders to help things run as smoothly as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience.

  • Please have a sign in your vehicle window (passenger side, front windshield) with your child's FIRST and LAST name, grade, and teacher's name.

  • We will now have two pick-up lines. The drive line in front of the school will be the "Blue Line" and will serve students with last names beginning with letters A-O. Our new drive line will run through the current bus lane and will be the "Yellow Line". It will serve kids with last names beginning with the letters P-Z.

  • Elementary teachers will follow the same process as before, except students will now have two areas to be picked up and bus riders will walk to the new location.

  • If you carpool with other families, please have the carpool driver choose a lane to utilize and stick with that line daily. All students who ride in the carpool will report to that line.

  • Please do not arrive at the school prior to 3:10 pm for afternoon pickup.

  • Please do not park in the staff parking lot; it is for drive through only.

  • After 3:10 pm you can park in the Erie High School bus loop and main parking lot and walk over to pick up your child. Please make sure all of the high school buses have departed prior to you utilizing the high school bus loop.

  • Kindergarten and preschool pickup and drop-off procedures will remain the same.

Transportation Reminders Regarding Recent Boundary Changes

Consistent with Transportation’s commitment to support families with their busing needs, eligible riders in grades 6-8 living south of Erie pkwy will continue to be transported to Soaring Heights PK-8. For the 2021-2022 school year, grade 5 students who have previously attended Soaring Heights PK-8 and live south of Erie Parkway will also be eligible for busing.

Open enrolled Soaring Heights elementary students living in the Highlands Elementary attendance area may be eligible for busing under the following conditions:

  • There is an existing stop for students grades 6-8, which can be accessed safely by the open enrolled rider.
  • All eligible riders at the stop have been assigned a seat and there is space available for additional riders.

Families who meet the following conditions and wish to be provided busing should register their student using the online form. Please note, you will be notified of your space-available request 2-3 weeks after the school year begins.

Student iPad Insurance

iPad Insurance - Student iPads are the property of St. Vrain Valley School District. Please look at the links below for more detailed information regarding how to sign up and pay for year-long insurance. Insurance sign up needs to be completed by 9/10/2021.

  • Please log into Infinite Campus prior to August 17th and complete the online iPad insurance form and fee. The fee is $25.00 for the year and covers accidental damage up to three instances, exchange of charger, and significantly reduces out of -pocket cost of total loss/damage.

  • Please complete all forms and fees online.

  • There is a technology tab on the Soaring Heights website that will provide many resources for support and questions.

  • If they are broken or lost, you must report it to the school and you may be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Because SVVS is the sole owner of the iPad, repairs can only be facilitated through district processes. If you opt into the Insurance program and accidentally damage the iPad, SVVS will provide a replacement as quickly as possible at no charge for a first incident. If you choose not to opt into the Insurance program, SVVS will communicate a repair cost to you and provide a replacement.
