Arete Youth Leaders Launch Alumni Council in August 2021

Introducing our youth leaders, Mariyam Sumareh and Stephanie Polanco, who have invested their efforts this summer to establish an Arete Alumni Council for graduates of The Lab School of Finance and Technology. The goal of the council is to provide alumni with the chance at having access to numerous opportunities (jobs, internships, community service, networking) and help set the vision for future Arete programming in Mott Haven.

Alumni Council Goals & Next Steps

The initial planning meeting for the council included graduates from 2021, 2020, and 2018. Those alumni who participated were interested in joining the council to participate in leadership and service opportunities, making a positive change in Mott Haven, help younger students with exploring different career options, deepen their connections to current students at F&T, and network with other alumni.

The next council meeting will be held in mid-September with the goal of establishing an executive team, committee members, and an initial fundraising campaign to support an October start for council events.
