These are the ones we were waiting for…

Unless you have been playing Rip Van Winkle, you probably have seen or heard about the two new editions to the R18 Heritage Line.First Edition R18 and the R18 Classic have been joined by the R18 Bagger and the R18 Transcontinental.

The Bagger and Transcontinental have an analog cockpit with a new feature borrowed from big brother Rolls Royce. Called  Power Reserve, it amends the tachometer with a dial providing a 0-100% scale of available engine power. Underscoring all this wonder is a huge 10.25” color TFT screen. Smartphones have their own storage compartment protected from water and ventilated by an electric fan.

Radar sensors adjust speed depending on your presets with Motorrad Active Cruise Control. Front fairing, wind deflectors and windshields create state of the art “climate control”. Top Case with back rest offers 47 liters of storage while each side case carries an additional 27 liters. Marshall Gold Series high spec speakers, heated seats, floorboards, heel/toe shifters, engine protector bars with highway pegs, more creature comforts, and redesigned steering that makes it ride like a much lighter bike.

The 18B and TC will be here this week, just in time for BMW’s National R18 DEMO Day on Saturday Sept. 18th.

THIS IS THE ONE TO RIDE for an entirely new perspective on motorcycling.

2021 R18 First Edition/Cruisers still carry multiple incentives including 1.9% financing thru BMWFS thru September 30th, and we have a nice selection including our jewel toned 1 of 1 customs at just about $2500 more.

Update on the supply of bikes from BMW

Everyone knows about the chip shortage and now that has also hit Motorrad pretty hard.  MY 22’s models in some cases will be missing certain options such as Dynamic ESA, Active Cruise Control, and others, while some production will be very limited until supplies are resourced. Having been closed to sales for months, we still have a couple of FULLY equipped ’18 and ’19’s at prices less than comparable used vehicles.2018 R1200RS, S1000R and 2019 F850GS, S1000XR were all delivered before release of the 2019/20 models in early 2020.  In March 2020, we were shut down by California.  These bikes were not seen nor enjoyed by the riding public as regulations were implemented and changed constantly regarding sales of vehicles; and riders stayed home.

Several Models were not produced in 2021 and some 2020’s were very limited in production as Germany faced the same lockdowns as the US. There may not be a full range of models equipped as we would like for quite some time as the world now tries to get back on track.

Warranty coverage coming to an end?

Owners nearing the end of their standard warranty term will be receiving a notification from BMW to come to their dealer for a complementary mechanical and safety inspection before the warranty expiration. Eligible repairs will be performed at no cost while under warranty. Appointments will be needed, but a quick call is all it take to take advantage of this opportunity. Remember to have the last 7 digits of your Vin# handy!

BMW now offering Ultimate Care for motorcycles!

Owners of New BMW Motorcycles now have an option of pre paying for their scheduled maintenance at time of purchase or before 750 miles. Three plans are available with coverage  for just oil changes, up to full normal scheduled maintenance for the first 18,000 miles or 36 months whichever comes first. These plans are honored at any BMW dealer and no pre authorization is required. This is a new program announced in late June and is one BMW car owners have enjoyed for years.

Should you buy New or Used?

Used bikes are selling for much more than new.  Heard about this on the car side, but it is the same for bikes. CycleTrader shows a ’16 R1200RS with 30k miles for $15,917.  We have a ’18 NEW w/full 3yr/36k mile warranty for $16,500. Remember, new bike inventory sat on the floor while we were basically shutdown forever a year. A few gems like this are hidden away, call for details. In case you haven’t noticed, most bikes offered on Cycle Trader are new dealer inventory; very few private party ads anymore. Cycle Trader is owned by a major Dealership Management Service provider…follow the money!
