Latest News in Healthtech Innovation

Unity, an app by the mobile health provider Health Fabric, is being launched to help patients manage their long-term conditions through care plans that can be accessed on their phone. The app provides NHS and approved supplier care plans and will be licensed by participating GP practices, who will be able to offer the system to patients so they can be more proactive in their care. It is available in 15 languages, and will cover conditions such as high blood pressure, COPD, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, angina and depression. Through AI and machine learning, the app also recognises what the baseline of symptoms are for each patient and can help spot anomalies, with alerts sent to GPs.

Sydney-based medical device start-up Vexev has developed what it says is the world’s first tomographic ultrasound robot (TUR) to make diagnostics more affordable, accessible and insightful. The TUR is designed to automate the entire ultrasound procedure, whilst making the diagnostics significantly more powerful by producing 3D tomographic ultrasound outputs (analogous to MRIs/CTs).

Fundraising - leading health tech innovators raising capital

AccuRx, a health-tech company focused on ‘bringing together everyone involved in a patient’s care’ has raised £27.5 million in Series B funding led by Lakestar, a European venture capitalist. Over the past 18 months, the company has provided a booking system for the national COVID-19 vaccination programme, which has since been used to manage almost 22 million vaccines. It’s also expanded in secondary care, to now cover 15% of NHS trusts, and grown in primary care to support 7,000 GP practices. The newly raised funds will help accuRx grow its team by 300 people (from 120+), develop new products, and enhance the company’s offering for its GP practices.
