Nutrition Storybooks for Children

Reading about food in children’s books can help kids explore and experiment with new foods. It can also help them develop healthy eating habits and food relationships. South Zone Registered Dietitians have compiled a storybook guide full of engaging children’s books about food and nutrition. Each book is accompanied with a read-aloud video for teachers and kids alike to follow along the story and the colorful illustrations. Each book focuses on a key nutrition and healthy eating theme. D.W. is a picky eater. She refuses to try new foods and even has a temper tantrum at the dinner table when a piece of spinach is in her salad. Her family started going out for supper without her because her picky eating and attitude were getting out of hand. Eventually D.W. decides for herself that she doesn't want to miss out on experiences and joins her family for a celebratory dinner for her Grandma's Birthday. Will D.W. give spinach another try?
