“A Cup of Cold Water”
A Note from Pastor Mark
Have you seen the Lord Jesus, lately? And when you saw Him, how did you respond? I realize that these are unusual questions. But they are connected to Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 25. Read what the Son of Man says as he explains his actions in the coming glory:
Then the King will say to those on His right, “Come you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matt. 25:34-36)
Of course, those who heard this were puzzled. They couldn’t recall the situations He was talking about! Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.” (v. 40)
Lately I have listened to several of you here at the church who have been caring for Jesus. I understand that you didn’t always realize it. But you have reached out to the hurting. You have prayed for the grieving. You have been looking beyond yourselves while sharing your lives with your brothers and sisters. Thank you for caring for Jesus so much! In that day when the Lord rewards His servants, your reward will be great in heaven. Can you hear Him say it? “Thank you for giving me a cup of cold water.”
