Last Chance to Bid on ACL Wristbands!
Don't risk FOMO - be sure to get your bid in for two wristbands to ACL Festival weekend 1 (Oct 1-3) before the auction closes! Bidding ends at 10pm on Wednesday, Sept 29. Bids can be placed at https://pflasa.org/auction

This early auction supports Project Graduation, which provides a safe environment for seniors to celebrate on graduation night. To defray the cost of such a large event and to ensure that no student is turned away for financial reasons, this online auction helps to raise the money needed to host this event. Our main auction will be in November, but there will be early auctions (like this one) for events occurring before then.
LASA PTSA - Get Involved
Within the next 2 weeks, a group of volunteers are going to walk the perimeter of the LASA and hand out magnets with our contact information to our neighbours.  LASA Kids and adults are welcome. Please provide your contact info here,  so that we can give you details when we get them.
Volunteers Needed for LASA Application Mentoring Program
Once again this year, LASA will conduct its Application Mentoring Program at certain AISD middle schools and virtual for all Austin ISD 8th graders planning to apply.  This will help level the playing field by providing students with access to adults who have an understanding of the application process, can help edit short answers, advise on the creative project and  discuss the CogAt. In the past, the reaction to this program from mentors and students has been extremely positive.

Mentoring will take place in several ways:
  1. Saturdays possible face to face or on zoom mid January
  2. Zoom at various times based on student need
Mandatory Zoom training sessions will be:
  • October 5 8:30 am to 9:45 am or
  • October 6 2:30 am to 3:45
If you are interested in being a mentor, please fill out this form.

LASA Football Booster Club Formation
Our kids and coaching staff are working really hard. As such, we would like to start the conversation around the formation of a booster club for the team and explore ways in which we can support them in this season and for seasons to come.

LASA PTSA - Texas PTA Scholarship for Seniors and Faculty
For more than a century, Texas PTA’s primary goal has been to support Texas students and faculty members in reaching their full potential through continuing education. More than $500,000 has been awarded to graduating high school seniors and faculty members since the scholarship program began.

Each year, Texas PTA awards $1000 to eligible high school seniors and up to $500 scholarships to eligible faculty members at any school level that has a PTA/PTSA on their campus. These scholarships are made possible by the commitment of our half a million members and volunteers who understand that creating an environment of active, engaged families can make the difference in education.

In keeping with our work in building strong family-school partnerships, Texas PTA's scholarship process focuses on the impact an applicant's family, teachers, and PTA have had on their goals to continue their education or training
  • Scholarship opens Sept 15, 2021
  • Scholarship closes November 15, 2021

LASA PTSA - Yearlong Paid Internship Opportunity for Young People Who Love the Environment!
The Youth Forest Council (YFC) is accepting applications for the 2022 calendar year!  YFC is an immersive, yearlong paid internship connecting young people (ages 16-19) in Austin to careers that support trees and our communities. Youth Forest Council members work with Urban Forest Program professionals to plan community activities and continue to grow their own connection to Austin’s natural spaces. There are no academic requirements for participating in the Youth Forest Council and, in alignment with the City of Austin’s Strategic Direction 2023, we highly encourage young people from communities of color and communities facing systemic barriers to apply.

  • Veritas Academy: $11,845
  • St. Dominic Savio: $13,084
  • Regents: $19,648
  • Hyde Park: $19,890
  • Headwaters School: $20,100
  • Austin Waldorf: $20,500
  • St. Michael’s: $23,995
  • St. Stephens: $31,670
  • St. Andrews: $32,150
LASA is a bargain! 100% of your donation stays at LASA and we put it to really good use for things such as teacher continuing education, special curriculum costs, and classroom equipment. Please consider donating to PFLASA today, so we can continue to support our faculty and students to provide this extraordinary level of advanced academics.  Donate to PFLASA No-Hassle Fundraiser to help fund advanced academic costs.  www.pflasa.org/give
