Join the Queensland Clinical Networks' Executive
Closing date: 6 October 2021
The Queensland Clinical Networks’ Executive (QCNE) is seeking a consumer representative to be part of the team. The QCNE role is to be strategically involved in healthcare innovation and initiatives to improve healthcare service delivery and patient outcomes.
The QCNE is a small executive team of clinical network chairs. They have been convened to provide a visible leadership structure for clinical networks enabling effective and efficient engagement with stakeholders from across the health system.
Clinical Excellence Queensland (CEQ) partners with health services, clinicians and consumers to drive measurable improvements in patient care through its continual pursuit of excellence. It is the conduit for the Clinical Senate and Clinical Networks to engage with the Department of Health and Hospital and Health Services. The Clinical Networks are one of the principal vehicles used to engage front-line clinicians, consumers and leaders from across the health system in Queensland to develop, drive and implement clinical quality standards, ensure statewide equity and plan for sustainable improvements in healthcare.

Join the Mental Health and Addiction Portal Working Group (MHAP)

Do you have lived experience and recent engagement with services in the public or private sector of mental health and alcohol and other drugs services?
The Mental Health and Addiction Portal (MHAP) is a statewide data warehouse that brings together data from a number of separate software applications and provides the capability for enhanced clinical and business decision support, analysis, reporting and access to information related to Queensland’s mental health and alcohol and other drug services and consumers.
The Mental Health and Addiction Portal (MHAP) Working Group has been established to provide direction and facilitate the program of work associated with the ongoing development, maintenance and use of MHAP to align with the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Digital Information Strategy which will provide strategic direction for digital transformation over the next 5 years.
The Clinical Systems Collections and Performance Unit (CSCPU) of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch (MHAODB) is inviting two consumer and carer representatives to sit on this working group to inform and guide this program of work.

Join Health Consumers Queensland's Board

The Health Consumers Queensland (HCQ) Board is seeking committed individuals with governance and other relevant skills and experience to express interest in joining the current Board Directors to lead the future strategic direction of HCQ during our next stage of development. We encourage people with diverse experience and backgrounds to register their interest as a potential candidate.
As part of this Board recruitment, HCQ is also seeking a new Director to take over registration as HCQ’s Company Secretary under the Corporations Act 2001, on a pro bono basis. The additional responsibilities associated with that role are listed at the end of the Expression of Interest document.

Consumer partnership training - NEW course dates available
HCQ equips, empowers and enables consumers to participate in a wide variety of consumer partnering opportunities. We also ensure consumers are informed and educated about their rights and responsibilities. Our training for Queensland Health staff supports your skills in understanding and implementing consumer engagement within your settings.
Our training sessions are designed to be friendly, casual and supportive, helping participants to feel competent and confident to share ideas, thoughts and feedback.
We offer a 3 tier program, with introductory, intermediate and advanced programs available at different times.

Steering Committee Members, Statewide Renal Clinical Network
Expressions of interest are invited for membership of the Steering Committee of the Statewide Renal Clinical Network (SReCN).
Steering Committee membership is multidisciplinary, and includes consumers, medical, nursing and allied health clinicians and Departmental staff, representing the continuum of hospital, community and general practice. Members will be selected from across metropolitan, regional and rural Queensland.
The role of the SReCN Steering Committee includes:
- Advocate for and promote the clinical network and its activities.
- Identify and drive initiatives to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of renal services in Queensland
- Provide leadership, expertise and advice to Queensland Health in relation to renal service planning, clinical policy and emerging issues (local, statewide, national)
- Provide leadership, expertise and advice to clinicians within the domain of renal services
- Develop, review and endorse for statewide use, evidence-based care guidelines, pathways and other clinical policy
- Develop, promote and integrate clinical research activities and teaching opportunities throughout renal services in Queensland
- Develop an open and supportive environment for clinicians and consumers in relation renal services in Queensland
- Foster education, research and best practice in renal services
Committee members are required to actively contribute to developing, implementing and providing advocacy for the work priorities of the SReCN. This includes:
- sharing perspectives and knowledge of strategic and front-line kidney service delivery issues as part of a multidisciplinary committee.
- demonstrating (clinical) leadership to influence change in relation to implementing SReCN priorities locally and across the State as required.
- attending Steering Committee meetings, forums, planning days and other ad hoc Network meetings.
- providing expert clinical advice or advice related to your lived experience, for example, to review and provide feedback on clinical and consumer resources (eg., clinical guidelines, protocols, patient information), policy, planning and strategy documents and other material including meeting papers. This includes feedback during meetings and out of session requests.
- Participating in or leading expert reference groups or time limited Working Groups to contribute to SReCN priorities and other Departmental priorities.
Steering Committee members are appointed for a period of 2 years (until 30 June 2023).

Participating with dignity - free online seminars
The Hopkins Centre invites you to its 'Bold Ideas Better Solutions' research seminar series about participation with dignity in policy structures and clinical systems.
BIBS21 Session one, Participating with Dignity in Life Domains, Wednesday 13 October 2021
11.00am to 1.00pm.
Hear from researchers, advocates, and people with lived experience about the latest research and personal insights that can inform us about ways to achieve dignified participation through policies and social systems that matter to major life domains. The seminar will feature prominent human rights activist, Mr Graeme Innes AM, research colleagues from University of Sydney and Griffith University, and people with lived experience, addressing the topic of participation with dignity in policy and social systems.
