Greetings, friends! Hope you are doing well and finding some time to create! What's inspiring you lately? Reply back and let me know, ok? Hope you enjoy this latest issue of The Scrap Basket!
I've actually had a few small finishes this month, one of them being Some Like It Medium, my response to Seattle MQG's block of the month, Salsa Medallion, I sort of took the fast-track method of constructing my improv medallion, usually including more than one month's prompt per round. I also consider it my own personal Pantone Color of the Year challenge, as I was focusing on Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. Definitely a fun project!
Straight from the Royal School of Needlework, the newly launched Stitchbank contains 150 stitches! "The RSN aims to compile the world’s largest repository of stitches, digitally conserving and preserving every stitch around the globe."
In a recent Textile Talk, Chawne Kimber interviewed astronaut Karen Nyberg. You can listen to the interview here. Something new-to-me was Karen's mention of Osomtex made of up to 95% upcycled textiles. Also, I didn't know she was such an avid thread-painter!
On The Quilter on Fire podcast, host Brandy Maslowski "welcomes guests for insightful discussions about quilting and fibre art to find out their stories and what brings them joy." In Episode 36, she welcomed Denyse Schmidt.
If you're a fan of wideback quilt backings, you should check out the new Wideback Shop at Quilty Love.
For one of a pair of baby quilts, Michelle wanted a big block log cabinfeel, but also a rectangle, which was achieved by simply starting with a rectangle center. Love how the darker fabrics accent and frame portions of the quilt! [meeshquilts]
Between the shapes and her color palette, Sophie's "Spotlight" really catches your eye, doesn't it? Know that all the half and full circles are hand-appliquedonto the background, oh yeah! And look close to see the varied quilting designs!

What I love most about my "Sequel," is that it was impulsive, made from lovely scraps that just didn't want to be relegated to the scrap basket. Do you find that you respond to your scraps that way? I don't always, but it's very freeing when I do! Try it! You might like it!
