Dear <<First Name>>

You are cordially invited to the official opening of Connected Cloth at the Whitaker art gallery, Saturday 2nd October, 2 - 4pm.

Alongside the main exhibition there will also be a series of mini artist films to view, which expand on the stories and processes behind the work.

Connected Cloth : Exploring the global nature of textiles.

Connected Cloth is part of this year's British Textile Biennial, taking place in venues across Pennine Lancashire. The theme of this years events focuses on the global context of textiles, textile production and the relationships it creates both historically and now.

Members of the 62 Group have created new artworks that investigate this theme from a wide range of viewpoints and divergent textile media. Several of the artists have focussed on the specific relationship that Lancashire has with global textile industries, whilst others have explored the theme from personal and geographic contexts.

The 62 Group exhibition aims to to challenge viewers to consider the role that textile plays in all our lives and the many ways we find connection through cloth.

Online artist talk

My own work for the exhibition, 'Incomplete Histories' (shown above) takes inspiration from 19th century printers and dyers notebooks from the Bradford College Textile Archive. I'll be giving an online talk about this work and how archives inspire my practice, as part of a series of 62 Group events, planned to coincide with the exhibition

Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
