It's people who make the difference. I care about Cat Beach so much. It offers such hope for rescued cats, I hope you will care too. I care because I love all cats and want to see them live happy - and they do at Cat Beach.I care also because of the wonderfulpeople who have helped cats over the past 7 years since we founded the cat sanctuary.
Cat Beach is not just about the wonders of cats, cats, cats; it's about amazing people too!
Here's to the dedication of the Cat Beach Team, the Cat Carers who work so hard day and night to give cats the best care possible!
This pandemic has proven to be both a curse and a blessing.
With all the challenges of these times, it is thanks to good people that 300+/- cats and kittens rescued from desperate situations are fed, cleaned, and cared for every single day.
Tragically, people here in Malaysia have lost their jobs, income, even their homes due to the covid pandemic. Hotels, restaurants, and many businesses are closed, many permanently.
Good people are in need of income and meaningful work. Cat Beach is uniquely placed to contribute to the local community in many ways. And that's the blessing of the pandemic.
It has been a challenge for years to find people to come out to the remote fishing village and do the very hard work of cleaning and cat care.
In recent months, however, some great people have come to us -- cat carers, administrators, educators, drivers and cleaners have turned to CB for work.
We welcome their help! They need and deserve your support.
Cat Beach is benefiting immensely from more hands-on-deck but struggling financially to support a larger staff.
There are literally hundreds of tasks that CB can and should do - so many ways to continue to improve services to cats and the community. More hands means better care.
Just an example: every day, cleaning cages, washing dishes and poop trays, sweeping, mopping, taking out the trash, comforting kittens, medicating and monitoring the sick and injured, the Cat Carers work hard!
In past years, Cat Beach depended almost entirely on unpaid volunteers, mostly backpacker travelers who would come to help cats and get a taste of what "real life" in Malaysia is all about. But now, sadly, travel is at an all-time low and still unsafe or prohibited. Our last volunteers left in May.
To continue the cats' care, Cat Beach must depend on local residents to help out. And those people must depend on Cat Beach for some income for their basic needs: food, shelter and the costs of daily life for themselves and their families.
With our neighbors needing income and meaningful work, Cat Beach has a unique opportunity to help our community and make big improvements on many fronts.
At Cat Beach Sanctuary in Teluk Bahang deep cleaning, painting, repairs and renovations are underway. Ambitious plans have been made for future improvements but depend on successful fundraising. In the meantime, by purchasing locally, Cat Beach contributes many thousands of ringgit to the local economy.
At the CB HQ in the Mutiara Arcade in Batu Ferringhi, the admin team is answering the daily requests for cat-related information, welcoming visitors and is hard at work on financials, promotion, and educational projects.
Virtual Volunteers online outreach is an exciting new project making a big difference. Six LiveStreams were produced in August and will be edited and rebroadcast - topics ranged from Cat Care 101 to Adoptions with much more to come!
Soon the 2nd Chances for Cats Charity Shop will be at full steam. Team members are inventorying, photographing and starting to put online the amazing variety of donated pre-loved items - many brand-new!
We are doing everything we can to raise the necessary funds to sustain and improve the services of the Sanctuary. Let's make things better for the cats and the people who care for them. We need your help urgently, please.
