At the end of this month the government plans to cut Universal Credit by £20 a month and end other covid support measures such as the furlough scheme. Citizens Advice has estimated that the cut to Universal Credit alone could push another 2.3 million people into debt in the UK.

Join our webinar on Tuesday 28 September at 6:30pm to hear from our panel and learn more about the UK’s personal debt crisis and how we can stop millions more of us getting into debt:

  • We'll discuss why problem debt is an urgent social justice issue and draw inspiration from across the world

  • Hear from those who have been affected by problem debt in the UK and are resisting debt in their communities

  • Ask who benefits and who loses from problem debt and what the government needs to do to tackle the ‘long covid debt crisis’.

Now is the time to come together to resist unfair debt and demand that the government tackle the ‘long covid’ debt crisis.

We are all facing multiple global crises, from the pandemic and access to vaccines, to the climate emergency and debt crisis. It is vital to address how these issues are deeply connected and perpetuate extraction, exploitation and profiteering at the expense of the global South.
