Hispanic Heritage Month offers history lessons while celebrating diversity
HSC proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, a national observance that starts on Sept. 15 and continues through Oct. 15.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week and was signed into law by President Lyndon Baines Johnson. It was expanded to 30 days by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.
The University’s Hispanic community includes students, faculty and staff with ties to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Inaugural Garth N. Graham Distinguished Lectureship Award spotlights trailblazers who are advancing health equity
HSC is joining the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine (SHLI) and YouTube in celebrating the first recipient of the Garth N. Graham Distinguished Lectureship Award.
The inaugural award honors Garth N. Graham, M.D., M.P.H., Director and Global Head of Healthcare and Public Health at YouTube. Dr. Graham, a cardiologist and public health expert, has led a number of national efforts addressing health disparities and social determinants of health.
SHLI and HSC will host the inaugural Distinguished Lectureship on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 12:00PM – 1:30PM EST via Zoom. Registration is free and participants can sign up in advance.
ZZ TOP to headline 2021 Legends Concert event to benefit HSC
Texas trio and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, ZZ TOP, will be the featured artist for the 2021 Legends Concert Series – the signature fundraising event for HSC.
Proceeds will contribute to the HSC Legends Scholarship Fund, which supports student scholarships. These generous dollars equally benefit each of the six HSC schools, including the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine. Read more...
