School is in Session!

It’s September, which means a new school year has begun at North Bay Children’s Center. Well-established research continues to emphasize the importance of early childhood education as an essential building block of a child’s future success. In addition to a classroom curriculum that promotes social, emotional and cognitive development, NBCC’s daily activities include nutrition, exercise and nature which are proven to positively impact future health outcomes and lifestyle choices. Across our fifteen center sites from Novato to Healdsburg, teaching staff have been preparing for students and welcoming families back into the classrooms. For some children this is their first preschool experience, an exciting and treasured time, full of early learning opportunities that prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond!

At NBCC we make discovery fun and inviting. Students have enjoyed getting to know their teachers, meeting new friends, and trying new foods, all while having fun and spending lots of time outside. Garden time looks different at every site! Here are a few activities from NBCC classrooms this month:
● Fitch Mountain preschoolers practice cutting fruit and explore bubble making
● Meadow View students conduct a seed investigation and learn about the "rollie pollies" (pill bugs) in their garden
● Steele Lane preschoolers practice collaborative play with their water table
● McDowell families prepare and fill garden beds for fall
● Bellevue students care for their worm bins

A Night in Tuscany promises a Tuscan themed night out at the beautiful Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, featuring a cocktail reception and courtyard dining alfresco with wine, award presentation, live and online auctions, and Fund a Need donation opportunity to benefit NBCC’s programs and services. Can’t join us in person? Purchase a virtual ticket to receive a delicious dinner for two delivered to your door with wine and view the live-stream program online.

COVID-19 Precautions
In an effort to ensure a safe environment, we are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event for those attending the in-person event at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. All attendees may bring either a hard copy of their vaccination record/PCR test or show digital confirmation on their phone at registration (https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/). Guests will also be asked to wear masks while in the registration line. Once checked in, masks will not be required while eating and drinking.

Spike Sikes from Bread & Roses Presents gave a lively musical performance at C Street campus this month! The children had a great time dancing and singing along in the garden.
