Dear JLP Members,

Today, September 17, is Hunger Action Day and your assistance is more important than ever! Phoenix is no stranger to food insecurity, especially given the uniquely difficult circumstances of the last year and a half.

The statistics* in our home state are staggering:

Junior League of Phoenix (JLP) has committed to Fighting Hunger in the Greater Phoenix Community. JLP, along with a coalition of community partners, is working toward a food secure community through access, empowerment, and education.

Because JLP is invested in changing these statistics for the better, our 2020-23 community programs and partners are focused on reaching out to diverse populations about the importance of nutrition and exercise, and combating significant hunger issues facing our community.

We encourage you to learn more about our work with Harvest Compassion Center and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul as well as our partnership with the City of Phoenix on Phoenix Food Day & Healthfest. An additional hallmark of JLP is how we develop women leaders through our training and development programs. Our dual focus on (1) helping with the immediate needs of our community partners while also (2) training women leaders to go on to make exponential impacts in helping solve these most critical challenges.

Please consider making a donation to help feed people today and the September Hunger Awareness campaign before 9/30/2021.

Warm regards,

Jennie Elser

Junior League of Phoenix President, 2020-2022
