Our virtual Fall meeting will feature readings by: Dave Manning (winner) and Dannye Romine Powell and Michael Gaspeny (honorable mentions) of the Brockman-Campbell Book Award; Anne Maren-Hogan (winner) and Joanne Durham (honorable mention) of the Lena Shull Book Award; and S.L. Cockerille (winner) and Catherine Carter (runner-up) and Lucinda Trew (honorable mention) of the North Carolina Writers' Network's Randall Jarrell Poetry Competition.

At 1:00, UNCW's Melissa Crowe will present a workshop, in which we'll "explore the line as the poem’s primary unit of composition. We’ll pay some attention to how skilled poets make choices about line length and line breaks, and we’ll have a look at the ways in which contemporary poets trouble or test convention, fiddling with a line's music and structure, perhaps discovering new ways to create tension and energy.”
