Open auditions for the Town & Gown Players’ upcoming production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will be held September 27 and 28, 2021 at 7 PM.

15-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain: He is exceptional at mathematics but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched, and he distrusts strangers. Now it is 7 minutes after midnight, and Christopher stands beside his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, who has been speared with a garden fork. Finding himself under suspicion, Christopher is determined to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington, and he carefully records each fact of the crime. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a thrilling journey that upturns his world.

Rehearsals for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will begin in October. Performance dates are December 3-12, 2021.

Town & Gown Second Stage
Athens Vignettes: A Dialogue with the African American Community

Writer: Roshaunda McLean
Director: Freda Scott Giles
October 15-17 & 22-24

Playwright Roshaunda McLean has taken interviews with Athens community members and turned them into three scenes that express views from the African American community in Athens about the Baldwin Hall burial site, the loss of Linnen Town and the relationship (or lack thereof) between the African American segment of town and the UGA gown.  Each scene will be performed and then discussed with the audience.  There is hope that the community will feel listened to and heard, and that a new day of relationship is dawning.  Actors will come from the Town and Gown family and from the Athens community.

Second Stage shows often feature new or local playwrights and properties, and are performed in the same space as our Mainstage series.  Second Stage Series productions operate on a small budget and have only one or two weeks in the theater. If you are interested in submitting a proposal for second stage contact secondstage@townandgownplayers.org.
THEATER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

It's been a long time but we are looking for usher help for the upcoming performances of Back to Broadway- A Musical Review. To attend a Town & Gown performance, all volunteers and audience members must provide proof of vaccination, with the final shot occurring 2 weeks before the performance they wish to attend.  Also, you will need to wear a mask while indoors.

The Board Member on Duty will be checking vaccination cards for these performances so we would need a vaccinated usher to help guide guests to their seats. If you meet these requirements and would like to help please sign up at the following link.
