Preschool for the Arts
PreK has CLASS DOJO figured out and will be sending home invites with your child’s personal log in ID on Monday!!!! Thanks for being so very patient with us while we got it sorted!! Now prepare for the cuteness overload!!
We will be sending the invites home in their blue folders we handed out on Open House. If you haven’t received one LET US KNOW. They need to stay in your child’s book bag for us to send work home in, special announcements, homework and our monthly newsletter. Check them everyday so you don’t miss anything!
Also…
PreK students see all of our preschool teachers every day. They are not assigned to one teacher but instead move around to three and sometimes four classrooms seeing teachers Lauri, Theresa, Ali, Chris and Meredith. You can always email Sam, the on site manager, at sam@vbsota.com.

I’m using ClassDojo and I have a two folder system in my classroom. One folder is work complete in class and the other is our monthly focus board ( practice work for home). Parents also know I keep all Bookshark work for their portfolios

1st grade

I’m using email to communicate with parents. A folder goes home daily with students. If there’s any work that wasn’t finished in class then it is to be finished at home.

I sent home a September Newsletter outlining classroom schedules, practices, expectations and subject objectives. These will go out the first of each month.
I also sent out a group/classroom email explaining how parents can get involved, our class name, pledge etc. These will go out on a needs basis.
Every Monday I send out the Homework Assignment Tracker Sheet that has daily homework in Math and LA, a reading log, weekly homework in Science and SS along with the spelling words for students to practice prior to their Friday Spelling Test.
On Fridays, I send all papers home for parent to review, for students to complete unfinished work and for parents to sign and return.
All this information is sent home in a daily parent/ teacher communicator folder with one pocket designated “keep home” and the other pocked “return to school.”
Parents know they can email, text or call me.

I send out homework texts to the parents every day and send the homework folders home daily.
I send an extremely detailed email every Friday after school that talks about what we did in each subject, announcements, and upcoming dates of tests, quizzes, or events at the school.
