Hi Guys

There are just a few bits of housekeeping this week.

The Tuesday after next (28th September) is the Teeth and Nails Day.  This is open to all dogs, regardless of size or weight.  They do not have to be dogs that I groom on a regular basis but they do have to have a nice temperament.  Large dogs are done on the floor, there is no lifting required.  If your dog has had its teeth done here within the last 6 weeks it is considered a Maintenance Session (£22) if I have not seen your dog beyond 6 weeks it is a regular session at £42.

Please spread the word - I'd like to fill this day with dogs that I know rather than advertising outside our group if I can.

Knots

After being in the dog business professionally for 33 years and the grooming business specifically for the last 17, I feel rather qualified to preach about when a dog is knotty ... or not.

Slightly Knotty

In my books, the slightly knotty coat can be rescued and is described as comprising of up to three of the following:
  1. Small knots behind the ears
  2. Knots in both armpits
  3. Knots in the groin
  4. Small knots in the tail
  5. A few tats in the legs
  6. A couple of tangles in the tummy
Definitely Knotty

The definitely knotty coat Is described as up to 4 of the above and can normally be rescued but will take extra time.

Matted

All of the above apply.  In addition, probably large areas of the dog, as large as the palm of your hand or bigger are matted at skin level.  You probably won't see it at a glance and a brush may glide over the top, but a comb will find all of them. This coat is beyond rescue without causing pain and trauma to the dog

The Customer Is Always Right

Of course, it is always the customer's choice to get a second opinion and another groomer may well be bullied into performing the dematting procedure, however, it won't be done here and the dog will be shaved down humanely.  The owner will be asked to stay and watch so there are no nasty surprises at pick up and no nasty reviews left on social media.

Owners are also completely free to disagree with any and all of the above and if they choose to do so, they will be invited to find another groomer.

There are limits to the miracles we groomers can weave.
I switched to Acrylics this week to paint "Ice" another horse stabled where Daisy keeps her horse, Polo. I'm quite impressed with it, even if 100 household chores fell by the wayside in order to create it! 😂😂😂

And finally, this is what the next couple of weeks (currently) look like.
