Talofa lava, Mālo e lelei, Kia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Mālo Ni, Ni sa bula vinaka, Noa’ia, Mauri, Tena koutou katoa <<First Name>>,

Aucklanders will wake up tomorrow to a new day and a new Level - Level 3! As of yesterday, 99,013 (58.9%) Pacific people* have had a least 1 Covid vaccination in the Metro Auckland region. Well done to all of our Pacific community who have taken up the offer to be vaccinated.

There are still many more Pacific to be vaccinated. This Pasifika Post concentrates on providing information on when and where you can go to get vaccinated. This includes three Pacific communities (Samoa, Cook Island & Niue) doing mass vaccinations at the end of this week.

If you have friends or family members who are not sure about getting the vaccine, talk to them and direct them to places where they can find trusted information.
Take care of yourselves Auckland! Malo le onosa’i.

Alliance Health Plus

Covid Vaccination - "Let's do this together"
All Black and Manu Samoa Great Fesola'i Va'aiga Tuigamala (aka 'Inga the Winger') joins our very own AH+ Clinical Director Dr Hinamaha Lutui to share Covid vaccination information with our Pacific community.

VIDEO 1: "Let's do this together. If not for ourselves then for our children and definitely for our grandchildren". Watch the short 2min video here and please share the link with your congregation and networks.
VIDEO 2: Inga set his own fears aside to get the Covid-19 vaccine, giving him the best chance of being around for many years to come, for his children and grandchildren. Pacific and Maori have higher rates of obesity, diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, and we know that catching Covid can be more serious for people with these conditions. The vaccine helps protect us.
These videos can also be seen and shared on the Alliance Health Plus Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages.
Covid message for our Samoan community
Tali, who is Deputy Head boy at Mount Albert Grammar School, and his mother tested positive for Covid-19 and ended up in quarantine together.
Tali along with a couple of his fellow school friends produced this educational video for the Samoan community based on their experience of Covid and MIQ.

We acknowledge Tali and his family for their courage in sharing their story. Fa'afetai lava.

Zoom Education Session with the Otara Community

On Wednesday 15th September Alliance Health Plus partnered with INSPIRE Charitable Trust to provide another Covid Community Zoom Q & A session for the wider Otara community. The invitation was spread far and wide across the local board, community groups, NGOs, local providers and more. The breakout rooms had clinicians speaking English, Samoan & Tongan language which was very popular and feedback from attendees was very positive.

A family who had 12 members test positive for Covid-19 attended the Zoom and shared their moving experience. The family spoke about working alongside Gerardine Clifford-Lidstone (Director of Pacific Health, Ministry of Health), Fepulea'i Margie Apa (CEO at CMDHB) and Pauline Fuimaono Sanders (General Manager of the Northern Region MIQ facilities) to help improve the process and experience for our Pacific people who test positive for Covid-19 and end up in MIQ. They acknowledged the support of South Seas Healthcare, The Cause Collective and other Pacific Providers.

The english language session was live streamed on facebook, if you would like to watch it you can do so here.

If your church group or community group would like a similar session, please feel free to contact Alliance Health Plus on admin@alliancehealth.org.nz and we can arrange it.
