Membership Involvement—the Future of the DCAA
A short message from your Marketing Chair:
Behind every successful organization there are usually a core group of people who keep the wheels turning. The case of Dry Canyon Arts Association is not an exception. For the past few years we must thank a few supporting members and the board for keeping this dream alive. Because of some very hard work and a few dedicated individuals we have been able to support the Arts in Redmond and our surrounding communities with shows and education.
However, even though we have had a steadily growing membership over the past few years our membership participation has not increased enough to keep up. As the Marketing Chair I have been on the front lines of these efforts and witnessed this hard work and dedication first hand. Shows, classes and our dream of a physical space have been our goal and the center of our work for the past several years. But, I fear that we will need your help to make our current show schedule and achieving our future goals a reality.
Every little bit helps, and I am asking all of you to ask yourselves what you can do to help us move into the next phase of growth for Dry Canyon Arts Association.
Thank you,
Kimberly Krueger, Marketing Chair
Dry Canyon Arts Association
Please consider the following opportunities:
Vice Chairperson
This is a voting member of the board and the time commitment is minimal. The Vice Chairperson will need to attend board meetings held once a month and participate in decision making and planning discussions for association projects. The Vice Chairperson works with the board of directors of the organization; develops and enforces policies and objectives for the organization to ensure it maintains its values and meets established goals. Additionally the Vice Chairperson would step in and lead board meetings in the absence of the Chairperson.
We Need a Vice Chairman to continue! For many months Linda Gillmore-Hill has stepped up to perform the duties of three board positions! We all owe Linda a big thanks for her outstanding efforts. However, in order for our board to continue under the State of Oregon's non-profit rules, we must maintain a full board. Recently Terri Dill-Simpson has been appointed as our new Treasurer and Linda has agreed to continue in the Chairperson position. Which still leaves us with an empty Vice Chairperson position. It is critical to the future of Dry Canyon Arts Association that we fill this position as soon as possible.
If you are interested in this position please email Linda at linda.drycanyonarts@gmail.com
Lend Me Your Walls
The Lend Me Your Walls committee is looking for more volunteers to help with its program. As a member of this committee you will work with the Redmond Downtown Association's Kara Roach and other Redmond business and community leaders to create a network of business where our membership may have the opportunity to display their work in public spaces. This committee needs people who would be willing to spend some time getting to know Redmond businesses, coordinating locations and possibly transporting and hanging work.

A Space of Our Own Tour
Join the tour! Coming up in October 2021, the DCAA will be conducting a tour of three cooperative creative workspaces in Bend. It is our hope to show our membership how a creative workspace can be a successful working hub for creatives in a community. We invite our membership who might be interested in participating in the creation of our own space to participate in the tour and consider joining the committee.
It has always been the goal of Dry Canyon Arts Association to find a physical space where we can host meetings; have a gallery/retail outlet and foster a community of visual and performing artists where they can gather, collaborate and support each other. To this end the board has approved the creation of a committee to explore our options and develop a plan so we can begin the process of fund raising and grant writing. This group will be meeting to explore different business models, locations and funding options. Kimberly Krueger and Bill Hunt are co-chairs in this endeavor. Bill and Kimberly bring an extensive background in Business, Real Estate and Marketing to this project, but they will need membership support. We are looking for 3–4 members to be on the committee to help with research and planning.
If you would like to be involved or join us on the tour please email Kimberly at dcaa.marketing@gmail.com
