Last Friday (17 Sep) we celebrated the opening of the exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre, indeed the whole IOTA21 Festival – in full Indian Ocean style with performances, music, dance and food. Thank you to the amazing team at the Centre and all the troupes for producing such a memorable experience. | | The Futuring Craft conference brought people together in person and online to discuss all matters craft – past, present and future; and we finished the weekend with the joyful spectacular Curiosity & the Cloth at the WA Museum Boola Bardip showcasing fashion designers from WA, NT, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Kenya … | | We appreciate that IOTA21 takes place in the ‘lucky’ state of Western Australia, and acknowledge that we are blessed on Noongar Country. We are sorry that so many artists, presenters and visitors could not be here with us. And so we will try our best to share online coverage as much as we can over coming days and weeks. Thank you to all who attended the opening celebrations, exhibition visitors, attendees and contributors for the Conference, fashion models, dressers, and voluntary backstage staff, IOTA volunteers and the amazing teams at Curtin University fashion, WA Museum, Fremantle Arts Centre and John Curtin Gallery. | | Don’t miss the international exhibitions at John Curtin Gallery and Fremantle Arts Centre, closing on 31 October and 7 November respectively. The informative and beautifully designed catalogue is now available at the galleries and online. And there’s lots more to see as the IOTA21 Festival of exhibitions that complement and expand the core program continues across WA in Pemberton, Port Hedland, York, Bunbury, Fremantle, and Perth… Scroll down for a selection of highlights… We look forward to seeing you at an IOTA21 event soon! | P.S.
