Change in COVID-19 Alert Levels for Auckland

Tēnā koutou

Following the announcement that Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 as of 11:59pm on Tuesday 21 September 2021, it is important that work restarting on school construction projects in the Auckland region does so with the health and wellbeing of everyone involved as a top priority.

At Alert Level 3 all school construction projects can continue as long as the COVID-19 Construction Protocols for site entry, site operations, and leaving site are being adhered to.

We expect everyone running construction sites on behalf of the Ministry or schools to apply the guidance provided in the protocols, have a COVID Response Plan in place, and complete our COVID-19 checklist before starting work on school construction projects.

If you are a main contractor on a Ministry of Education-led project, your Delivery Manager will be in touch to confirm that you have all the appropriate protocols in place.

If you are a project manager on a school-led project, please contact your school property advisor to confirm that the appropriate protocols are in place.

Exemptions
The current public health order does not allow for construction workers to travel between regions with different alert levels without an exemption.

Please note the boundary between Alert Levels has been amended. The revised boundary will be available on the COVID-19 website. It's also important to note there has also been a Section 70 notice issued for the Hauraki community south of Auckland.

We will advise if anything changes.

COVID-19 variation claims
Making sure our suppliers are supported during this period continues to be a priority. Our COVID-19 variation claim process remains in place and we have recently updated our website to include new supplementary advice to make claiming on materials easier. You can see this advice and our guidelines for valuing COVID-19 project variation claims on our website.

As always, clear and open communication between parties is key. If you have any questions, please contact your relevant Ministry contact in the first instance.

We continue to monitor the alert levels and will provide further updates if any changes are required.
