Melissa Birch

Next week our gallery window will be blooming with new works by our Featured Artist, Melissa Birch. Melissa produces hand printed linocut artworks inspired by her passion for wildlife, gardening and plants. She says: "Living in the South Downs fuels my obsession with nature, and particularly floral structures. The morning sun falling on a roadside thistle can literally stop me in my tracks.” Her beautiful prints will be featured in the gallery in our Featured Artist spot for the next three weeks.

Listen to Melissa talking about her practice on our latest blog, where she gives a fascinating insight into the linocut process as well as her thoughts on nature and the ephemeral nature of time.

Guest artists

We're delighted that we still have in the gallery the works of our three guest artists: Sue Arnold, Kate McMinnies, and Alan Taylor. A taster of their work can be seen below and more information is available on our guest artist blog. As well as showing work in the gallery, their artworks are also available from our online shop.

Catch the waves

A reminder that this is the last weekend of the Lewes Artwave Festival so there are only a few more days left to catch our current window display based around the theme of 'Catch the waves'. It includes a wide range of work from our artists - paintings, prints, ceramics and glassware - all inspired by the theme of waves. The exhibition continues inside the gallery. Also still hanging in the gallery are postcard-sized works by talented young artists on the same theme - we're delighted to be showing their beautiful artworks, which you can read more about here

We look forward to seeing you soon!
