Weekly Announcements: September 20th, 2021

Here are your weekly announcements:
Registration
Registration is continuing this week. You must complete your membership packet, join Hornslink, and pay dues; these are not optional. If you couldn’t fill them out last week due to missing forms or are new this week, now is the time. As a reminder, you must bring a copy of your health insurance and your car insurance if you plan to drive people for any Texas Ballroom event. Finally, we ask that you fill out this form for our internal roster.
Family System
Each semester we divide the club into 3-4 'families' that put on smaller social events, compete for points, and build closer friendships. If you didn’t have a chance to come last Friday but still want to participate, send a message to Michael Byrd via Slack to find out which family you’re in and be added to their slack channel.
Social Dance
We will be hosting are second social dance this Friday from 6-8 in the Rec Sports Center Dance Room (RSC 1.104). The theme is ‘Game Day Rave,’ so get out your glitter and neon or throw on a jersey and face paint. As always, snacks and drinks will be provided. Additionally, you must bring proof of a negative COVID test in the past week or you will not be let in the door. As a final reminder, this dance is not in Belmont, we will not be in there.
Advanced classes
We will be hosting our first advanced classes this week 6-8 PM in Belmont 402:
Tuesday: Country
Thursday: International Standard and Latin
These are great classes for any returning members and any new members wanting to learn quickly or potentially compete. The first two sessions are completely free, so we encourage everyone to try them and see if they are the right fit for you. If you continue, the fee is an additional $100 for one semester or $150 for the whole school-year.
Great Waltz
We are excited to invite you to Texas Ballroom's 39th Annual Great Waltz, our annual masquerade ball, for a once-in-a-lifetime night of dancing, elegance, and fun with friends.
The event will be hosted on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 in the Shirley Bird Perry Ballroom of the Texas Union. The dance will run from 6:30-10 PM, with doors opening at 6. Moreover, for those interested, we will have a Viennese Waltz workshop earlier in the day, from 2:30-3:30 PM. For reserved member tickets, the price is $15; the link to purchase these is forthcoming.
Jacket and T-Shirt Interest Form
We plan to offer jackets and a t-shirts to members this semester. To indicate your interest, please fill out this form. While this is a likely estimate, price is potentially subject to change.
Shoes!
We will be selling dance shoes from our closet throughout this week. These are only $5 in cash, which is an excellent deal, so look through to see if any fit you.

We are working on getting back/finding all the items in the closet. Here is a google form so you can retroactively check the items you have out, if you have items from TxB’s closet please fill out this form!
Texas THON Profit Share and Recruiting
Texas THON will be having a profit share at JP’s Pancake company starting at 7 PM, tomorrow, September 21st. This organization supports the Dell Med Children's Hospital and is one of our major volunteering partners this year. Go out and support them if you can!
Further, members can optionally join our Texas THON team—message Michael Byrd for details. If we’re the first org to recruit 20 members, we will be rewarded with a Tiff’s Treat package for our next monthly dance, so sign up if you’re interested.
Meeting Agendas
Want to keep see what the club is planning? Officer meeting agendas are available to the public on #administrative on Slack. This is a great way to see what’s coming up and understand what all the officer positions do for the club (especially if you are eventually interested in leadership)
