New conversation platform: Discord
We are excited to announce a move from our relatively quiet Slack to a Discord server! Please join us through the invite link:
✨UFAS Discord server✨
About Discord
Discord is a very similar platform to Slack: it has capacity for 1:1 and small group messages, chat categories ("channels,") and conversations within those channels ("threads"). It also has a voice and video channel so you can pop in to small group meetings or just hang out with others in your browser or on your phone!
How it works
- No need to download anything to use in a browser! Just click on the link.
- There is a free mobile app with a variety of notification settings.
- Don't miss the "how to discord" channel on the UFAS server- it will help you get acquainted with all the nuts and bolts too.
- For more, check out A Beginner's Guide to Discord.
Why we're excited about it
- The voice and video channels (as well as robust search functions) can help enrich our connections with each other.
- Unlike Slack, you don't need to log in and out to switch servers (for different groups you might be in).
- You can indicate a name and pronoun in use just for the UFAS server.
- Our EDC committee book club has really loved using this platform. :)
Please reach out with any questions! Looking forward to seeing you there.
