If you’ve been on this email list for a while then you might remember how that, earlier this year, I hyped up Chicago-based drag performer Donut and his nightly (and I mean NIGHTLY) horror double features on Twitch. That’s been on hiatus for a while because he’s been hard at work producing his second annual Halloween Special. It’s campy and fun and a love letter to all cheesy, gory, scary, funny horror movies, and you should throw him $30 on his GoFund Me as he raises funds to deliver a high-quality experience for all.

Ah, la jeunesse. This playlist is so personal. It’s not nostalgia, it’s therapy that I’m giving myself. If you weren’t a young, beautiful, curious, trying-her-best Black woman in her twenties in the early 2000s, this may not resonate with you. Or maybe it will, despite our differences. There’s not enough space in this email to fully express why and how this playlist is ushering me through a period of transition right now. Maybe one day I’ll write some memoirs about it.
