From the president

EAA 234 needs you!

EAA 234 needs your help, your input, your heart, your ideas, and your time—your oh blessed, oh so precious time.

We are doing good, creating good, seeking good and... coming upon good. You, you we need.

We, you, us can and will create an environment that will enrich our youth, our community, and you—you and me.

Come along. Come aboard. It’ll be a hoot, good fun. See you here.

Fly-in

A great day at the farm!

Big thanks to Bob and Sandy Denton for hosting a fly-in at their beautiful new airstrip (MI1) on their family farm near Clare. The fog burned off just in time to enjoy a morning together with donuts, coffee, and of course, airplanes. A fly-by demonstration by the crop duster based at the field was a real highlight.

Thanks to everyone that came out. Perhaps this will become an annual tradition!

Previous meeting

SeaRey build visit

Thanks to Jim Warren for inviting us to hold our September meeting at his home so we could examine his substantially complete SeaRey build. He answered all our questions about the amphibious plane—and graciously dealt with unsolicited opinions about how to do certain things differently! We look forward to seeing Jim's SeaRey flying (and floating!) soon.

Build committee update

Zenith for sale, new project coming

The board has authorized the sale of our Zenith CH 750 project. The proceeds from this can be used to fund a number of chapter activities and goals, including maintaining the momentum of our successful Young Eagles program.

Several members are also working to get the chapter's SlipStream Revelation that's been in storage into a saleable condition.

For those interested in working on a build, stay tuned: the chapter is working on arranging regular build nights with member Del Johnson, who has a Glastar project that has been dormant for some time. We'll share details as soon as they're available.

Before that, he worked at Ford Motor Company for seven years working in several positions including Plant Engineering Supervisor and Technical Superintendent.
