City of Vancouver Seeks Support for the Neighbourhood Energy Utility

Deadline to apply: November 12, 2021

City of Vancouver is introducing a new Project Greenlight challenge to support the transition of its Neighbourhood Energy Utility (NEU) to 100% renewable energy by 2030. Innovators are tasked with proposing solutions spanning technologies for low-carbon heat production, optimization or renewable energy supplies; energy efficiency or demand-side management; and operational efficiency.

Kicked off by a heat dome in late June and followed by devastating forest fires and record-setting temperatures, summer 2021 threw crippling curveballs into the tourism industry’s journey towards economic recovery and resulted in disastrous losses for British Columbians. Once again, climate change cost BC’s economy billions of dollars, following a trend of wildfire activity in 2017 and 2018, and a devastating pine beetle infestation more than a decade ago. But this time is different. This time, we are acutely aware of the toll climate change is taking on our physical and mental health, and the way it encroaches on our daily life.

Project Greenlight Enters into Agreement with EU Techbridge

Project Greenlight has entered into an agreement with EU Techbridge, a project that matches European SMEs with North American organizations seeking innovative water and energy solutions. Through the new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Vancouver Economic Commission and EU Techbridge, EU innovators will be matched with Project Greenlight innovation challenges, facilitating increased international cooperation between Canadian and EU companies.
