Vol. 9. Issue 3

Dear parents/guardians,

Effective 25 September many national COVID measures are changing. Following the guidance from public health authorities here is a summary of how this significant step in the pandemic response will impact NAISR students, parents, teachers, and the wider school community. These changes are in effect starting Monday, 27 September 2021.

Face Masks
The use of face masks for secondary students, staff, and visitors to NAISR will move to the advisory stage and are no longer mandatory when moving throughout the school building. This means that students and staff can choose when or if they will continue to wear a face mask. Please note that face masks must continue to be worn by students 12 years and older when taking the school bus. The driver is also required to wear a face mask.

Quarantine
Close contact precautionary quarantine will still be advised. In our primary classrooms there is no longer the need for an entire class to quarantine after a single positive test. Instead, each scenario will be evaluated and the most appropriate measures taken. In our secondary classrooms quarantine measures will continue to be determined based on close proximity and immunity status.

Access to the school building
Parents and visitors will continue to be welcomed into the school building with an appointment or when accompanied by a staff member.

Activities and Events
The national advice to keep 1.5m distance between each other will end. This opens the possibility for more activities and events to take place. We will share more information about upcoming events in the near future.

Self Testing
Self tests will continue to be distributed to secondary students and staff members. The strong recommendation for non immune individuals to test twice per week remains. Voluntary self testing will continue until at least the autumn break in October.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns about the changes to our COVID protocols.

Kind regards,
Alison Lipp
Director

Where children are absent on this day, there will be an opportunity for individual photos to be taken later in the term (Nov. 3), however, this will not be possible for class or sibling photos. We ask that students dress smartly for their individual and class photos. Sibling photos (NAISR students only) will be held between 8:00-9:00am and parents can sign up for one of these limited time-slots HERE >>>

iSAMS Parent/Student Portals
NAISR has successfully completed the migrating to a new database system; iSAMS is a web-based platform used by Nord Anglia schools (and over 1000 schools globally). New portal accounts will be activated shortly for all NAISR parents so that mid-term reports can be accessed in October. More details to follow soon.
After School Activities
All after school activities have begun and it is great to see our students enjoying co-curricular activities again. There are still places available in some clubs. Email communications@naisr.nl with any questions.
Primary School Assemblies
Throughout the school year, each Primary class will host an assembly. Yesterday, Year 6 hosted the first for this school year and what a great job they did! Unfortunately, we were not yet able to invite parents in to watch the Year 6 assembly, but parents enjoyed the live stream. Well done to Year 6 for hosting such a great assembly and we look forward to the next one. View a recording of the assembly here >>>
Lunch Cards - Check Balance
Our cafeteria uses the app, 'Topr wallet'. Please check your child's lunch card balance. You can top up your card via the App or directly via the website. Please set up the Automatic top up function, found under 'Settings', to avoid insufficient funds on your child(ren)'s card. Top up my child's card >>>

Swimming lessons will be held on Fridays up until May 27th (please note: lessons will not be held during the Winter period of Nov. 20-Jan. 13). Students will need to bring swimwear and a towel in a waterproof swimming bag to school on Fridays.

Introduction from our new Social Worker...
Dear parents, my name is Rochni Algoe. I am the new social worker at the Nord Anglia International School of Rotterdam and I will be at school on Thursdays. I am from the organization called CVD: Centrum voor dienstverlening. I am someone that students (and also teachers) can talk to if there are any problems, difficulties or worries. If there are difficulties with classmates, fears about making mistakes, or worries about something at home, students can come talk with me. Sometimes I can help refer to the right kind of support. Together with parents and the school, I want to help students to feel safe and happy at school and at home. I do this in sessions in which we talk and do playful or creative exercises. If you have any worries as a parent you can talk to the school and be connected with me.
