International Day of Peace - 21st September 2021

Today is the International Day of Peace, across the world people are thinking of what peace means to them. Today and this week, consider what peace means to you, whether that be world peace, inner peace or peace and quiet. As we witness the atrocities that are happening in the middle east where peace is a far off idea, maybe we can consider the parallel that we live in. We got to work each day, or take children to school, or spend the day with friends with a sense of security that we will see our loved ones either that evening or on the weekend. However, there are those who are living in war torn countries who are yet to feel that sense of security, who do not know if the conflicts will prevent them from seeing peace that day, that week or even that month.
So as you consider, read the words below, listen to the music in the link, ponder the words of the Dalai Lama, maybe light a candle as you pause to reflect and pray, hoping that one day all will experience the peace and security we so freely experience in our everyday lives.

When you look for peace
then the peace lies within you
When you search for peace
then it is not hard to find
When you want to keep peace alive
then you allow white doves to fly over you
When you make peace with others
then the whole world live in your heart
When you let peace be in the world
then you live in wonderful world

When you allow peace flow around the world
then your hateness will go and love will flow
When you open the door for peace
then peace welcome to your lives.
Let the peace prevail in our wonderful world

Ravi Sathasivam

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
John 14:27
