As we promised last week, today we will share with you the sad story of lion Simba and his six siblings.
Seven lions living in inappropriate conditions in Romania.
Three-year-old Simba made headlines at the end of 2020 when pictures of him appeared on social media. Simba had been used as a prop for a music video… and his wounds on camera shocked many people in Romania.
Unfortunately nobody could help poor Simba because his owner has a permit to keep the lion...
Now, we have a unique opportunity to give Simba and his siblings a new life in our care - but we cannot do it without you.
Simba's oldest sister is six-year-old Elza. His younger five siblings, three males and two females, are all two years old and still without names.
It will not be easy to rescue these lions, but they need our help!
Unfortunately, this rescue mission is quite complicated due to the number of animals and their keeping conditions. In addition to that, COVID-19 makes rescue operations and the associated wild animal transports even more challenging.
First, we want to bring the seven lions to our FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary in The Netherlands. Here, they will receive the medical care they deserve.
Later we want to bring the five youngest lions to our LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa.
Simba and Elza will stay at FELIDA, as they cannot join the group of the five youngest lions as they have been kept separate in Romania for too long. It is expected that Simba will need special care anyway, which can be provided for him at FELIDA.
Hope for Simba's future...
As lions are social animals, our dedicated team at FELIDA will research the best possibilities to socialise Simba with Elza. It is time to give them a brighter future.
Follow us on social media for daily updates from all the rescued wild animals at our sanctuaries, and the latest news about Simba, Elza and their siblings.

This project highlights one of the many FOUR PAWS activities which help animals around the world. It shows the difference that we can make for animals together. Donations are used where they are needed most to help protect animals globally.
