National Postdoc Appreciation Week wraps up on Friday, and I hope you're taking advantage of some of the cool stuff this week. Like this little snippet from the Director of NSF.
Join us this afternoon for a workshop about when to apply for faculty and other academic positions, what documents are required, and how long the process takes.
Postdoc Appreciation Social
Thurs, Sept 23, 4-5:00pm

Our last ice cream social was a resounding success, so let's do it again! Join us and your fellow postdocs for some (pre-packaged) ice cream and italian ice, in appreciation for everything you do as postdocs.

1. NPA myPostdoc Webinar on U.S. Insurance 101, 10/8 1pm
myPostdoc Monthly: Insurance 101
Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. ET
Accessing care through the U.S. healthcare system can seem like a daunting, mountainous task. After all, we fear the unknown. In fact, a recent survey shows that only four percent of Americans truly understand the key components of their health insurance and how they impact their out-of-pocket costs, and for international postdocs, the statistic is undoubtedly even lower. Join the NPA for an informative webinar where we will discuss those unfamiliar concepts and terms you may have come across when looking at health insurance benefit summaries or speaking with healthcare professionals. Fortunately, when armed with a bit of knowledge and understanding, accessing care seems like less of a mountain and more of a molehill.
1. Have you completed our Postdoc Info Form? If not, please help us out!
This Fall, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs will be reporting on our postdoc population in the aggregate to NSF, which includes questions we need always need your help on (like if you got your PhD outside the U.S.).
If you've already completed it, but your situation has changed (new advisor? new funding source? new postdoc duration?), I would appreciate it if you could fill it out again.
