WelcARC England logoome to the latest Real People

This month at ARC England
We welcomed Chloe Hawkins, Inspection Manager for CQC who delivered a session for members about the Well Led key question and the role of trustees during inspections that was attended by more than 30 members. Members told us they found the session very useful and Chloe was able to find out more about our members' services for people with learning disabilities, autism or both.

Our regular member call featured an update from our Lead Trainer Rod Landman about the move to Liberty Protection Safeguards and what providers can do to prepare ahead of the launch in spring 2022. There are a few places left on Rod's LPS webinars on October 14th, 17th November and 14th December

Members continue to be very concerned about recruitment and retention in their services, with worries that the possibility of mandatory vaccination being extended across other care types will have devastating consequences for staffing levels. We continue to lobby strongly for government measures to prevent this crisis worsening and will be responding to the open consultation by 22nd October with the views of our members, people with learning disabilities and their families. Please let us have your views by email to liz.collins@arcuk.org.uk.

Upcoming member events

  • Recruitment and Retention Webinar with social care recruitment consultant and founder of the Care Friends app Neil Eastwood, 10am Wednesday 20th October 2021 (last few places remaining)
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity in Social Care: How to have confidence in your plans. Webinar led by disaster recovery expert Lisa Hart, Vice Principal of members Henshaws College, 11am Wednesday 10th November 2021

In a feature asking 'How should people with learning disabilities be supported in the wake of Covid-19 restrictions easing?', ARC England Director Clive Parry argues that the increased covid mortality rate among people with a learning disability is a clear indicator that they should be prioritised for covid booster vaccination.
