Hi <<First Name>>,

Welcome to the September highlights!

What would Dan Barber do with a $1B investment fund? How can we use software to design a keyline system at 10.000 hectares and the role of the humble pig in regeneration?

Also, it was such a pleasure to interview Fattoria La Vialla, who built one of the largest biodynamic farms in Europe (managing over 2000 hectares) by selling everything directly to the end consumers, wine, olive oils, sauces, cookies and so much more.

Enjoy!

We are gearing up for a very busy autumn and winter, stay tuned!

Thank you to everyone in this amazing community, for listening, sharing and getting involved!

Managing over 2000 hectares biodynamically and selling everything directly to the end consumer for more than 40 years
Interview with Annette Mueller, La Vialla

Topic: Fattoria La Vialla di Gianni, Antonio e Bandino Lo Franco has managed hectares of land using organic farming since 1978. With La Vialla’s communication manager Annette Mueller we discuss why we need to invest more money in the fertility and biodiversity of the soil and also the estate’s success in direct-to-consumer distribution.

My thoughts:
Very very impressive what they have built over the last 40 years. I'm super curious to follow them over the next years as they keep expanding and intensifying their growing practices with the latest regenerative research and science.

Great flavour, health benefits and healthy ecosystems can only come from healthy soils not a lab
Chef Dan Barber

Topic:
An episode with Dan Barber, chef and co-owner of Blue Hill both in NY and Stone Barn and co-founder of Row 7 Seed Company, talking about the role of seeds and chefs in regeneration, and where to invest in order to win while helping the environment.

My thoughts:
Even though we only had 35 min, what a pleasure to chat with Dan and see what he is up to, what latest regenerative ag and food gets him enthusiastic (self fertilising corn anyone?) and what the role of chefs in this massive transition is.

Making super accurate key-line design on a landscape scale on 10000 hectares altering the behaviour of water
Interview with Jayson Hayward-Jones, REGENFARM

Topic:
A conversation with Jayson Hayward-Jones, founder and managing director of REGENFARM Ltd, discussing how altering the behaviour of water and utilising AI can contribute to designing revolutionary landscape designs.

My thoughts:
Never thought we would use keyline, AI and satellite systems in the same conversation. Luckily! Because we need to start using the power of technology to figure out what to plant where on a landscape scale.

The role of pigs in regenerative ag and why we have to build brands
Interview with John Arbuckle, Singing Pastures

Topic:
What is the role of the humble pig in regenerative ag? How is building brands key to move and get customers on board? John Arbuckle, founder of Singing Pastures, joins the podcast to discuss their uncommon, revolutionary, and regenerative practices of growing pigs.

My thoughts:
"More farmers on the podcast" is feedback we get often, so I was very happy John agreed to come on and share about the role of pigs in ecosystem restoration and the crucial role of building brands to get products grown with regenerative practices to the end consumer.
