In this video, John Walsh, B.A. 1961, Director Emeritus of the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, discusses Simon de Vlieger’s Fisherfolk and Other Figures on a Beach (1642).

 

STORIES AND ART

“The Man, the Boy, and the Donkey (El hombre, el niño y el burro)”

In this month’s Stories and Art program, listen to a story about a man, a boy, and a donkey and their trip to the market. As you listen, look at an unattributed drawing titled Aesop’s Fable of the Man, the Boy, and the Donkey (ca. 1565) and an etching by John Thomas Lundbye, Standing Donkey (1834). Watch now in English and Spanish.

In this short video, Gregor Quack, Graduate Curatorial Intern, Department of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Ph.D. candidate, History of Art, addresses Mark Rothko’s Untitled (1941–42) and No. 11 (Yellow, Green, and Black) (1950).
