By the grace of God, we at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church are filled with the Holy Spirit and respond to God's love by sharing the Good News with our friends and neighbors. We go into our community and world to make a difference in the name of Jesus.

Salty

I remember at some point hearing my dad say that, “people are the spice of life”. He loved people because we are so interesting. This week's Gospel has Jesus instructing his disciples about what it means to be a servant of God. He says, “Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” It is an interesting use of metaphor (Jesus has a way of doing that) and brings up the question as to what it means to be “salt”? I like to think that each of us has our unique spice and when we share that with the world, possibilities begin to emerge. When we come together with our saltiness we can lift others up and bring joy into the lives of others. In what ways are you “salt” for others”? In what ways have you been seasoned by others?

Along with our two Student Coordinators, I attended the annual WWU Activities Fair. It was fun to see a diverse group of students milling around and learning about the various clubs available to join. A diverse group of students who are seeking other students to be in relationship with and navigate school together. This week, let us lift up the saltiness of our community and the beauty of diversity among us.

See you in Worship,

Pastor Joel

A new directory is in the works! I'd like to hear from you if any of the following applies:
  • you weren't in the last directory but want to be in the new one,
  • you were in the last directory, but DO NOT want to be in the new one,
  • you're not sure if you were in the directory and you'd like to be in the new one,
  • you've had an update to your contact information since the last directory was published.
If you were in the directory last time, and nothing has changed, you don't need to do anything. Please send me an email and let me know if you have updates. Thank you!

Blessings,
Rebecca
