Mark your calendars and join is on September 29 at 7 p.m. for a service of choral Evensong (sung evening prayer) celebrating the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. This service will be sung by a small ensemble from our choir, and includes music responses by Malcolm Archer; canticles by Philip Moore; and anthems by Richard Shephard and G. F. Handel.
Welcome our New Choral Scholars
This fall we have the opportunity to welcome two choral scholars to the parish. This program is a continued expression of the parish’s commitment to engage in the richness and beauty of the Anglican tradition while collaborating with the university to cultivate future leaders for the sake of the church and the world. We are delighted to welcome Lillian Geis and Dalia Marquez to The Chapel of the Cross choir.
Lillian Geis is a senior at UNC studying Medical Anthropology and minoring in Sociology. Along with being a new choral scholar, she is working as a nurse assistant at UNC Hospitals with the hope of starting nursing school next fall. Originally form Charlotte, she brings over 12 years of singing experience to The Chapel of the Cross and is excited to continue as a member of our church choir.
Dalia Marquez is a sophomore at UNC who is majoring in Music and Psychology with a Spanish minor for the Medical Professions. She is involved in soccer, an a cappella group called “Tar Heel Voices”, and service-learning. Although she was born in Austin, she has lived in Chapel Hill for over ten years. In the future, she hopes to become a music therapist. She looks forward to being a part of the community at COTC!
