Le Tour d'Alexandria Library Bike Tour on Saturday, October 2 at 10 a.m.

Alexandria Library invites the community to participate in Le Tour d’Alexandria Library, the Library’s annual bicycle tour on Saturday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. This year's tour will highlight the art located in the City of Alexandria.

Participants can bring their bicycles and join library staff for a leisurely 3.5 mile ride through Alexandria starting at Burke Branch Library (4701 Seminary Road) and ending at Duncan Branch Library (2501 Commonwealth Avenue). This leisurely ride showcases Burke's new Outdoor Public Art installation and the City's Art on the Avenue event.

Burke Branch Library Opens on Sundays starting October 3

Beginning Sunday, October 3, Ellen Coolidge Burke Branch Library (4701 Seminary Road) will be open to the public on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library (5005 Duke Street) and James M. Duncan, Jr. Branch Library (2501 Commonwealth Avenue) also offer in-person service on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

At this time, Kate Waller Barrett Branch (717 Queen Street) remains closed on Sundays until further notice.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15)

Through October 15, Alexandria Library is highlighting the rich Hispanic heritage in our community. During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), we recognize the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their contributions to our culture.

Alexandria Library will host its annual bicycle fun-ride to two Library branches in celebration of art. Registration begins at 9:30am at Burke Branch Library.

Love Your Pet Day Festival
Sunday, October 3 at 11:00am - 3:00pm
Bring your whole family to this fun event and enjoy games, crafts, demos, and delicious food! You will also be able to enjoy performances by Rainbow Rock Band (11:15am),
Uno, Dos, Tres, Andres (1:00pm), and magician Chris Michael (2:00pm).

Storytime with the Black History Museum

The Birds at Four Mile Run

Take a guided tour to discover the birds and the environmental settings at Four Mile Run.

Centipede Dragon Story Celebration
Sunday, October 10 at 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Engage with a new outdoor story trail featuring local author Alice B. Chen's picture book, Centipede Dragon, and join us for themed crafts and performances for families. All ages.
Event location is at the intersection of Holmes Run Parkway and Pelham St, part of Holmes Run Trail.

Fixit Clinic - Community Repair Event
Saturday, October 16 at 11:00am - 3:00pm
Bring beloved items to the Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library to be repaired or advised on by a Fixit Coach.

The Birds at Four Mile Run
Saturday, October 16 at 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Join us for this guided tour of Four Mile Run trail. This area is home to various herons, osprey, woodpeckers, and hawks. The habitat includes woodlands, meadow, wetlands,
and forests.

Yoga in the Reading Garden - Outdoor Exercise Series
Monday, October 18 at 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Wendy Harper returns to lead the popular Yoga in the Reading Garden program. Yoga will happen every 3rd Monday of the month from September to December.
