Here in my neck of the words, we are slowly venturing back to be together in person again.
Last week, three of the MacKay CEO forums I chair were together for the first time in more than a year. It was great.
Yesterday morning about a hundred of us were together in the Vancouver Club for a breakfast leadership event. It was amazing.
It was simply fabulous to see one another in person again, or, in some cases for the very first time in real life. Yes, some of us have only ever met onscreen! This caused for a bit of fun as it took us a moment to recognize each other with masks on and properly socially distanced. Very soon though some hilarity ensued. There was lots of laughter. “You look much different from onscreen,” was a comment we heard a lot.
I left the event with feelings of gratitude and joy. It felt like together we weathered a storm and came out to a calmer place. We may not be at the end of this COVID saga, but at least we are able to wrest back some of the things the pandemic has robbed from us.
It felt good to feel the presence of human beings around a table in a business setting again!
