Tasmanian response: Vaccination exemption form
A new, editable form is available for medical practitioners to use to provide certain workers with exemptions to mandatory vaccination for medical contraindications.

The Tasmanian Department of Health advises this form is the preferred option to indicate exemptions of this nature, and it has been designed to assist GPs in discussions with patients regarding medically accepted contraindications to vaccination.
Tasmanian response: Pfizer recommended COVID-19 vaccination form
The Tasmanian Vaccination Emergency Operations Centre has launched a Recommendation to receive Pfizer (Comirnaty) COVID-19 vaccine form.

This form should be used if you wish to refer a patient for a Pfizer (Comirnaty) COVID-19 vaccine in a Tasmanian Government COVID-19 vaccine clinic where:
  • they are aged over 60 and have a medical indication where Pfizer is preferred
  • there is an indication for a mixed schedule.
National response: Updated COVID-19 vaccination ATAGI advice
The ATAGI clinical guidance for COVID-19 vaccine in Australia has been updated and includes updated information about:
  • Spikevax (Moderna)
  • recommendations for individuals aged 12 years and over
  • mRNA vaccines and cardiac conditions
  • invalid doses
  • adverse events
  • effectiveness.
National response: AIR recording of vaccinations given overseas
AstraZeneca, Moderna or Pfizer vaccines given overseas on or after 1 October can now be recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and appear on the patient's immunisation history statement.

Providers can add vaccines directly on the AIR Site via PRODA and HPOS. For guidance, click here.
National response: Updated COVID-19 vaccination pregnancy decision guide
The Australian Government has published an updated COVID-19 vaccination decision guide for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy. 
Tasmanian response: Latest COVID-19 update from Tasmanian Government
The Tasmanian Government issued a COVID-19 update to general practices on Monday 13 September including information about mandatory vaccination for workers in healthcare settings.
New Diabetes Tasmania Quick Guides to streamline patient information
Diabetes Tasmania, with Primary Health Tasmania's support, has launched a set of seven 'Quick Guides' to streamline diabetes information for patients:
Resources available from recent eating disorder face-to-face events
Resources are now available via request from two recent events on eating disorder coordination of care in the primary care setting, hosted by Primary Health Tasmania.

GPs, allied health professionals, and pharmacists discussed two case studies with a panel of GP, allied health, and mental health experts, identifying options and barriers to coordination of care for this patient group at the Hobart and Launceston events.
New contraception and abortion Community of Practice
AusCAPPS is an online network where primary care clinicians and community pharmacists can connect and chat with like-minded peers and expert clinicians about contraception and abortion, find local providers, and keep up to date with the latest training opportunities, research, and resources.
Updated referral template for The ISLAND Clinic

Further updates have been made to the referral template for The ISLAND Clinic, with referrals now able to be sent directly via HealthLink.

Early bird registrations closing soon for Tasmanian nursing and midwifery event

Early bird registrations for the upcoming Tasmanian Public Sector Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Symposium and Awards close on Friday 1 October.

The event will take place in Hobart on Friday 19 November, and celebrate the power of the nursing and midwifery professions.

Cardiac Community Network's Education Interface Program webinar series
The Cardiac Community Network has presented the Education Interface Program, supported by Primary Health Tasmania in partnership with the General Practice Liaison Officers, since November.

Royal Hobart Hospital GP Update Forum
Organised by the southern General Practice Liaison Officer and supported by Primary Health Tasmania, the next instalment of the Royal Hobart Hospital GP Update Form series will take place online from 7.00pm to 8.00pm on Tuesday 21 September.

This instalment will focus on providing a general introduction to interventional neuroradiology services at the Royal Hobart Hospital and in the private system.
Personality disorder online conference
The Spectrum Personality Disorder Service will host an online conference on the topic of Complexities in Personality Disorder: A Mentalization–Based Treatment (MBT) Approach from 9.00am to 4.30pm on Friday 1 October.

The conference costs $200 to attend.
National Safety and Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards launch
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care will launch the National Safety and Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards online at 1.00pm to 1.45pm on Tuesday 12 October.
Trauma-informed care in general practice webinar
The RACGP is hosting a webinar in collaboration with the Safer Families Centre from 7.00pm to 8.00pm on Tuesday 12 October about topics within RACGP’s Abuse and violence - Working with our patients in general practice (White Book). 
Care of Older People in General Practice Webinar Series 2021
Medcast is hosting a webinar series about aged and palliative care in general practice from 8.00pm to 9.30pm over four successive weeks, commencing Wednesday 13 October. The webinar series costs $300 to attend.
Free Kidney Health Australia webinar
Kidney Health Australia will host a free webinar at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20 October about medication considerations, Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) calculators and equations, and sick day management.
