Express your interest in our services 


We have a number of options available for those who are not in education, employment or training to gain support into their preferred destinations and build life and social skills that they can transfer between different roles and scenarios. Below you can find information on the different programmes we have available. 

Positive Directions

Positive Directions is just one of AfC’s employment programmes designed for young people aged 16+ who are not in education, employment or training. This programme provides employability and life skills training; and support into choosing your next steps. 
 

Head2Work

Head2Work provides the opportunity to participate in a social action project involving practical experience, employability workshops, and one-to-one support to use the experience to seek work. You must be aged between 18-24 and not in education, employment or training to apply.

YES

Youth Employment Skills (YES) offers specific, personalised support specifically for those with social and emotional mental health needs to help move towards employment or training. YES can provide life skills training, confidence building activities, work experience opportunities and employability support to those who are aged 16-24. 

Able2

Able2 provides specific support to young people aged 16-24 with physical disabilities or long term health conditions to reduce barriers to employment and provide support and training to help young people achieve their goals.

Kickstart Scheme  


There are currently 22 Kickstart vacancies available via Achieving for Children and our partners, and time is running out to apply!

All successful applicants must start their Kickstart roles by 31 December. 

We have Kickstart vacancies available in a range of sectors. These include business administration, youth work, caretaking, school work, and more!

You can view these vacancies here

The remaining vacancies are available to those who:

  • are aged 16-24 years 
  • are claiming Universal Credit
  • are referred to the employer by DWP (speak to your job coach regarding this)

Labourer/Grounds Maintenance Operative
This vacancy based in Hounslow offers the opportunity to become a labourer full time and work for a grounds maintenance company with on-the-job training whilst you work. To apply, you must hold a full driving license in order to use the company van. Click here to find out more. 


Optimise your online learning 
This webinar by Thinkful will discuss the common barriers of learning from home, and aims to provide tips and advice as to how you can manage this and get the most out of your remote education. To register, click here


Digital Inclusion sessions - Our Barn Community
Our Barn Community will be running digital inclusion sessions for those with SEND to come along and learn digital skills in a small group of likeminded individuals. Attendees can learn how to use emails, shop online, order prescriptions, and more. These sessions will take place at Pump and Grind Coffee Shop and Community Space every Friday from 12pm - 2pm, and will continue during term time up until December. Step Up Programme and welcome event
South Thames College Group have announced their upcoming Step Up programme to enable post-16 young people to gain experience within a subject they would like more insight into. Learners can choose from a range of courses, including music, art, beauty therapy, IT, sports, and more. 
STCG will also be holding a welcome event for you to come along and discuss your options with potential tutors, and enrol on the day if you would like to. There will be a pizza lunch provided alongside activities to take part in so you can get an idea of what may be involved in your preferred course. The Educationwise Group LTD in Hampton are looking to hire a level 3 apprentice to produce high quality, error-free content for their website, newsletter and trade press. Traineeship spotlight


Plumbing and Heating Technician Traineeship
Frank Finn Plumbing LTD are promoting their traineeship opportunity which currently offers 2 vacancies. Trainees will get the chance to learn practical skills, complete English and maths functional skills if required, take on a work experience placement, and learn hands-on functions that are required for a career in plumbing and heating.
