After Ida's Massive Flooding, Queens Reps Fight To Stop Transit Cuts: Meng, AOC, State, Local Officials Will Join Riders, Urge Federal Funding For Frequent, Affordable Subways, Buses In ‘Build Back Better’ Budget

(Elmhurst, NY) -- On Tuesday, US Reps. Grace Meng and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will join state and local officials and subway and bus riders to urge Congressional leaders to deliver MTA operations funding in the upcoming federal budget.
Without an infusion of cash for daily operations, the MTA will begin hiking fares in 2022 and cutting service to close a multibillion dollar budget gap as pandemic aid runs out, harming millions of working New Yorkers and threatening the city's, state's and nation's economic recovery and climate goals.
