DON'T MISS IT!  Crossing the Rift: North Carolina Poets on 9/11 and Its Aftermath (online)

Wed, Sep 15, 2021, 7:00 PM EDT

With contributing poets Jaki Shelton Green, Joseph Bathanti, David Potorti, Lenard Moore, Shelby Stephenson, Maureen Sherbondy, Joan Barasovska, Elisabeth Lewis Corley, John Balaban, and Michael Beadle

No matter how you were touched by the events of September 11, 2001, that moment continues to resonate. Crossing the Rift illuminates not only what happened that day, but what continues to challenge us twenty years later: Islamophobia, the vilification of refugees and asylum-seekers, nationalism, supercharged military budgets, and rises in virulent racism and domestic terrorism. Edited by former North Carolina poet laureate Joseph Bathanti and 911 family member and former literature and theater director for the North Carolina Arts Council David Potorti, Crossing the Rift takes head-on what Carolyn Forché calls “the poetry of witness” and its advocacy “for a shared sense of humanity and collective resistance.”

Joseph Mills writes about Carrying Clare, now available for preorder at Main Street Rag, "...the author takes us into hospitals and bedrooms and kitchens as she examines hard truths about parenting and family, including the fear and despair and difficulties that are sometimes involved. Barasovska is unflinching, and therefore trustworthy. These are not poems of easy sentiment, but ones of attention and honesty and love.”

The book, which will be published in early 2022, is available for preorder now at a discount. Please click on the link below to order:
