Dear <<First Name>>

You are invited to a meeting on Food and Climate Change Governance Structures. We will be sharing the findings of the research carried out in four countries (Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe) from November 2020 to February 2021.

Join the lead researchers when they present their reports on 29 September 2021 from 12:00 PM to 01:30 pm (SAST).

In the analysis of the reports, it was noted that there are many common climate governance structures that are found in all four countries, and there are key differences as well. The reports also provide a background on the state of food systems and the impact that climate change will have on Southern Africa.

It is critical to assess these structures and note the countries where the faith-based organisations may be able to participate in the food and climate change discourse.

Our lineup of presenters includes:

  • Francesca de Gasparis Executive Director (SAFCEI)
  • Dr. Zechariah Malley (Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Africa, Tanzania)
  • Muketoi Wamunyima (Pellum, Zambia)
  • Admire Mutizwa (Zimbabwe Council of Churches)
  • Robyn Bowden (Independent Consultant, South Africa)
  • Stefanie Swanepoel (African Earth Rights, South Africa)

By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • Provide analysed information on Food and Climate Change Governance Structures in South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
  • Support the efforts of the Southern Africa region in their quest for adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
