Monthly Program Staff Webinar: https://youtu.be/uVG6CTkCza8
New information this week has its subject line in RED.

COMMISSION UPDATES

Financial Information

Please note that the claims component is not yet set up for 21-22 in IowaGrants. It should be set up by Monday and programs that began in August have their August claims due on 9/25/21. If your program started in August, but does not have any expenses to report, please submit a zero claim in IowaGrants.

Friday, September 24th we will hold a TA Webinar on Financial Management.  We will cover some of the basics, but also address some new reporting related to the American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA or ARP) funding and have time to respond to questions you may have.  If your organization received/requested ARPA funding for match replacement, please plan to attend to learn about the changes in reporting necessary to manage this process.  Please let your financial staff know about the training and if there are topics/issues that folks want to make sure get covered, please send those to Kristin.Honz@volunteeriowa.org.

Program Staff Launch & Member Swearing-In Event

The Program Staff Launch, October 20-21, will be held virtually this year. We plan to hold the launch each day for a morning and afternoon block, with a break for lunch. Please continue to block both days for training sessions, breakout groups, and networking opportunities. We appreciated the suggestions given at this month’s program webinar for topics. We will work to incorporate those suggestions and hope to make the Launch as engaging as possible! More info and registration link coming soon!

We are also planning a short member swearing-in event for Friday, October 22 at noon. More info and registration link will be shared soon!

AMERICORPS has published its notices of funding opportunity (NOFOs) for the Public Health AmeriCorps program, which is a partnership with the CDC, and the 2022-2023 AmeriCorps State and National competition, which provides the basis for Volunteer Iowa’s Request for AmeriCorps Grant Applications (RFA).

  • Public Health AmeriCorps informationhttps://americorps.gov/funding-opportunity/fy-2022-americorps-state-national-public-health-americorps

  • Public Health AmeriCorps programs have a higher allowable cost/MSY compared to traditional AmeriCorps and no match requirements.  All grants will be cost reimbursement and there are limitations on the member slot types and performance measures that must be selected.
  • If you are interested in or considering applying for Public Health AmeriCorps, Volunteer Iowa can provide you technical assistance and you will be required to consult with us as part of the application process.
  • AmeriCorps State & National information: https://americorps.gov/funding-opportunity/fy-2022-americorps-state-national-grants
  • The guidance posted for the AmeriCorps State & National competition outlines requirements and deadlines for state commissions and national direct AmeriCorps programs.
  • Volunteer Iowa is finalizing our application materials for returning programs and for the national competitive process, which are based on the AMERICORPS guidance.  We expect to announce our competitive funding opportunity by early next week.
  • Volunteer Iowa application materials will be posted to our website and/or IowaGrants.  Sign up for the Volunteer Iowa AmeriCorps grant competition mailing list at https://signup.e2ma.net/signup/1906334/1720872/.
