The COVID-19-pandemic has continued way longer than anyone could have imagined, placing significant strain on all aspects of our lives! We are fortunate as an organisation to have weathered the storm and have been able to continue providing much-needed palliative care to our children and their families.
This would not have been possible without your continued support- whether as a donor or a colleague or a friend/family member of one of our employees. I think most of us can certainly say that the Pandemic has shown us new ways of working together and supporting each other.
It’s been sad not to be able to have our usual Annual Review function where we celebrate the achievements of the past year. So, this newsletter and copy of our Annual report for 2020 serve this function.

We do hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. We’ve had to do some things differently and focus on things that are not normally part of our operations. Financial support from donors and the new
“Pals of Paedspal” enabled us to deliver medication and provide over 500
food parcels to our more destitute families at the height of lockdown last year. We were also able to launch a
telephonic helpline providing vital counselling and psychosocial support to assist our patients despite the mandated closure of outpatient services. All of these extra services were provided on top of our usual patient caseload that our team has continued to carry despite all the personal challenges that the pandemic has brought to many of our households.
Sadly, despite our best efforts to lobby the government to fund paediatric palliative care, we have not yet been successful and we continue to rely on donations from the public. Every donation, no matter how small, is much appreciated and brings great relief to our families.
