Labor for Refugees New South Wales

15 September 2021

Dear <<First Name>>

Q&A with Kristina Keneally - a great success

On Monday evening, Labor for Refugees held a successful online Q&A with Senator Kristina Keneally as our guest speaker.  Members from our L4R groups across Australia, spent well over an hour directing questions to Kristina.

We had to turn people away from this event as we reached our 100 person limit very quickly.  For those members/supporters who missed out on having their questions submitted and then posted them on the Chat page, we will attempt to get back to you and answer them individually.

The issues raised covered a wide range of topics about refugees and people seeking asylum and specifically about the Afghan crisis.  Many of these questions had previously been discussed at our Labor for Refugees monthly meeting in August so if you go to our 25 August minutes (link appears below), you'll be able to read some of the topics that were addressed at our Q&A event.

Labor for Refugees does not agree with all of Labor's refugee policies but we do appreciate Kristina making herself available to publicly respond to our members' concerns and being prepared to listen to our members' views.

We look forward to Labor winning the next federal election and having Kristina retain her portfolio for Home Affairs and  Immigration and Citizenship.  We are very keen to see Labor implementing some of the positive refugee policies that we lobbied for and won over successive Labor national conferences.
