Communication from Chief Commissioner to all Leaders
You will recall earlier this year we conducted a survey with our members on the various methods of communication including Chief’s Newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
We shared in the Chief’s Newsletter, in Issue No. 131 26 August 2021, the outcomes of the survey where over 1150 Chief's Newsletter recipients gave their views.
Following that feedback, we are seeking to introduce a new newsletter “Scouting Family News” which will be issued monthly to the total membership (Circa 13000).
The current Chief’s Newsletter will continue to be issued on a weekly basis – and will be sent to all Adult Members (Circa 3500 and includes Rover Scouts).
Scouting Family News will be issued on the 2nd Friday of each month.
This memo advises the new deadlines for submission of articles to either newsletter.
If you are looking to communicate to the total membership – then Scouting Family News is the appropriate mechanism.
If you are looking to communicate with Adult Members then the normal weekly Chief’s Newsletter is the appropriate mechanism.
Deadlines for submission are as follows:
- Articles for the weekly Chief’s Newsletter are to be submitted by 12pm Tuesday each week; and,
- Articles for Scouting Family News are to be submitted by the 1st Friday of each month.
These deadlines are firm to allow time for compilation and editing of the newsletters.
Further we are amending the format of the newsletters to reduce words and provide links to articles which will sit on our website.
Ideally you should provide a short sharp introduction – which can be included in the newsletter with the full article being via a link from the newsletter. This introductory piece should be no more than 100 words.
When drafting your article consider the audience you are trying to engage with and select the appropriate newsletter based on the above suggestions.
Please also note there will be some editorial overview of both newsletters prior to distribution.
